Make your Android phone play random ringtones for calls and notifications

Have  you  been tired of  hearing the same tone for all of your incoming calls and notifications on your smartphone?  you must have gotten bored with it by now. No matter how great a tone is, if you keep hearing it for a long time it is sure to bore you, and you will eventually change it to something else down the road, and that cycle will continue.

As long as you have an Android device you do not need to manually change sounds for calls and notifications, as there is now an app that lets you randomize these calls and notification sounds on your device.

That way you will get to hear a different sound each time you get a call or a text message on your device. That should keep you from getting bored, and if that sounds good to you, read on to learn how you can get it working on your device.

Making an Android Device Play Random Sounds for Calls and Notifications

The app that you are going to use is call Randtune, and it is available for free on the Google Play store. Here’s how it works.

1. Head over to the Google Play store, and download and install the RandTune app.

2. Launch the app after it is installed

3. On the main screen of the app, you should see two sections. The first one is for call sounds, and the second one is for notification sounds.

Let us first add sounds for calls. To do that click the plus icon in the bottom of the screen.

4. You should now see three buttons on your screen. Tap the one on the right that lets you select a directory and all the music files inside it to be randomly played for your calls.

5. Navigate to the directory where you have saved all the music files to be used with the app. Select the directory and tap on “Select Directory.”.

6. All of the music files residing in the selected directory should show up on the app’s main interface. Checkmark all that you wish to use, and leave the others unchecked. You can tap the trash icon next to the music file to remove that file from the list.

7. That was how to randomize sounds for the incoming calls on your device. To set up the same for the notifications, tap on the second section in the app that lets you choose music files for the notifications on your device.
Tap the plus icon, tap on the option on the right, and select the directory where the music files are located for the app to import it.
Now wait for your device to receive some calls or notifications, and you will hear a different sound for each of the calls/notifications.

Let's talk about Computer Science Carrier Specializations

As we all know, Computer Science is one branch of study growing so rapidly in the 21 Century, in fact, I can say that we can’t go a day without using at least of product/invention by Computer scientists, seriously, from your mobile phone Apps like candy crush or temple run, your phone calls, ATM machines, online bank transfer (wire transfer) and believe me, it goes on and on. All I have mentioned are all programs written by Computer Scientists to make life better and easier.

In a nut shell,
Computer Science is simply the study of problems and finding solutions to them.........  That might not be the definition you are conversant with, I just broke it down to its simplest form

       Earlier in the 90’s,
communication was a serious problem facing humanity, but today, after the invention of mobile phones with was further improved by Networking, you can easily contact anyone in any part of the world, that problem is solved. Can you imagine what banking will be like without the ATM we all enjoy today? , terrible, but a program was written and that problem was solved, you can easily withdraw and make other online transactions by simply using an ATM machine, and now you can even recharge your mobile phone with your verve card (ATM card).
Today, you can easily order things online and get them delivered to your door step, aren’t these amazing? Life just got so easy with the inventions of great Computer Scientists.
Believe you me, in the nearest future Computer Science will be among the most sort after courses in the world because of its numerous contributions to the improvement of the world. Though it is a very vast area of study, it is very interesting.

In this post, I am going to share with the various area of specialization you can pursue as a Computer Scientist.

COGNITIVE SCIENCE
This branch is concerned with understanding and stimulating Natural and Artificial Intelligence

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
This is a very complex branch of Computer Science which attempts to incorporate the principles of human intelligence and reasoning into a computer. This should be able to make computers have the ability to plan (machine learning), acquire human related senses (machine vision or natural language processing) and effect changes to its environment (robotics).

COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEMS
This branch is related managing information systems and information science. It integrates the computer applications of data processing with problem solving to improve the efficiency of organizations.

SYSTEM ANALYTICS
This involves the analysis of already existing Computer systems and the design of new systems that meet specific information needs of an organization.

ROBOTICS
This branch simply applies artificial intelligence and engineering concepts to create and program machines (robots) that are able to perform different tasks mostly those that are performed by humans.

DATA PROCESSING
This studies how data is stored in the computer and how they can be processed to solve problems.

NEURAL NETWORKS
This is the study of computer systems modeled after the biological nervous systems

MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS (MIS)
This study emphasizes on the understanding and application of computer technology to solve problems.

INFORMATION SCIENCE
This is a rapidly growing study in Computer Science which examines the nature of information and also the ways in which information transfer.

DATA BASE SYSTEMS
It studies systems known as data base that can efficiently easily store, process and retrieve substancial qualities of Information.

COMPUTER SERVICING TECHNOLOGY
It is generally the study of computer hardware, how to install, repair and maintain computers and its related items.

NETWORKING
This is a very common field; it studies the principles of communication between computers. It deals with the design on Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN).

PROGRAMMING
Am I allowed to say that this is the most common branch of computer science? , this area is simply the study of how to instruct computers to perform specific tasks and how to write detailed instruction it must follow in solving problems.

COMPUTER GRAPHICS
This field combines computer resources and technology to produce two/three/four dimensional graphics images, these can be seen in your video games, animations etc.
As an undergraduate in Computer Science, you must decide and pursue any one of these specializations. ALSO, people randomly study these areas even without being an undergraduate in the field.

As you can see, the world can hardly do without these above listed resources, which means that once you are able to specialize in at least one of those areas, you’ll always have something doing.

Transfer funds from GTBANK without Internet using USSD Code

GTBank is a leader in banking technology and this time, a never-seen-before banking function have been introduced to the Nigeria banking sector.

The *737* transfer service is another novel offering pioneered by GTBank.
You can now transfer money from your GTBank account to either GTBank account or other banks by simply dialing a short USSD code (*737*) via your registered phone number.

This feature was built on the initial GTB One-Click Top-Up which is used in Purchasing Airtime With the Short Code *737*AMOUNT# directly from your account balance.

  • How to Transfer Fund to Other GTBank Accounts

To transfer fund to any other GTB account beneficiaries, follow the steps below;

1.On your mobile phone, dial *737*1*Amount*NUBAN Account Number#. For example, if the NUBAN account number you want to send the money to is 0035479764 and you intend sending N1,000, then you will dial: *737*1*1000*0035479764#

2. Then press the Send button

3.On the next screen, you will then be prompted to enter the last 4-digit of your Naira MasterCard number. Your card’s number is the 16-digit number at the front of your ATM card. Just pick the last 4 digits.

Also on this screen you should be able to see the name of the account holder. Always check if this is correct before proceeding.

4. Press Send and you should see a successful message.

5. Wait for the next few minutes (less than 10 minutes in my own case) and your beneficiary will receive the transferred fund.

NOTE 1: NUBAN Account Number is the new 10-digit number which replaces the old account number which was more than 10 digits. If the account number you’re sending to is 10 digits, then it’s a NUBAN account number.

NOTE 2: GTBank will charge you N20 for this transaction (as at the time of writing this). If you don’t want any transaction charge while transferring money between GTBank accounts, then you should consider using the
GTBank Internet Banking Fund Transfer.

How to Transfer Money to Other Bank Accounts

Interestingly, GTBank makes banking easier for it customers by making this feature available for those who want to send money to other banks. To transfer fund to other banks in Nigeria using the short USSD code, follow the steps below;

1. Dial *737*2*Amount*NUBAN Account Number#. For example, if the NUBAN account number you want to send the money to is 3064525232 and you intend sending N1,000, then you will dial: *737*2*1000*3064525232#

2. Then you will be presented with the choice to pick the beneficiary bank. Just select the number corresponding to the beneficiary bank.

3. Enter the last 4 digits of your Naira MasterCard number

4. And then press Send.

5. Wait for the next few minutes (less than 10 minutes in my own case) and your beneficiary will receive the transferred fund.

NOTE 1: Presently, only 5 banks (First Bank, Zenith Bank, Diamond Bank, Access Bank and UBA) are available on the *737* transfer to other banks.

NOTE 2: GTBank will charge you N110.25 for thisT transaction (as at the time of writing this).

NOTE  3: This transaction must be carried out using the phone number you register with GTBank.
NOTE 4: The account numbers used in the examples above are mine. Do remember to replace it with your own beneficiary account number.
Try this and let us know if it work for you. Also,

what do you think about this new feature?

Ways to hide folders and files in Android

In an effort to ensure that all the media files on your Android device are available in the Gallery app for you to watch or see them, the system performs a check to see if a new media file has been added each time you reboot your device. While that is totally fine for most of us, some of us have files that we do not want to be included in the Gallery app to be viewed by others. There is a way for you to prevent the Gallery app from scanning specific folders on your device.
It does not require you to use a third-party app to get the job done. Preventing a Folder From Being Scanned By the Gallery App in Android In order to make it easy to hide files from the Gallery app, you will need to add all your files into a single folder. Once that is done, follow these steps to prevent that folder from being scanned by Android Gallery.

1. Launch File Manager on your Android device.

2. Press the Menu button and select “Settings.” You will need to first enable your device to show hidden files so that you can see your newly created hidden folder.

3. Enable the option that says “Show hidden files.” You should then be able to see the hidden files and folders in file manager.

4. If you have not already created a folder to put all your media files in, create one now. You can do that by pressing the Menu button and selecting the option that says “Create folder.”

5. Ok, so here’s the trick. While entering a name for your folder, just add “.” (period) before the folder name. So, if I was going to create a folder named “HideMe,” I would name it “.HideMe.” Note the dot that I added before the folder name and not the period at the end of the sentence. Then tap the “OK” button and let it create the folder.

6. Any files that you add to this folder will not be included in the Gallery app on your device. These files are now hidden from the Android Gallery on your device.

If you do not want to create or rename the folder and still want it to be hidden from your gallery, here’s how you can do that. Using .nomedia to Prevent Folder Scanning

1. Download and install Es file Explorer  on your device. Once installed, launch it from your app drawer.

2. Open the folder that you do not want to be scanned by the Gallery app.

3. Tap the button that says “New” in the bottom panel. You are going to create a new file in the current directory to make all the files in the directory hidden from your gallery.

4. You will be asked which new item you would like to create. Tap on “File” as you are going to create a new file and not a new folder.

5. Enter “.nomedia” as the file name and tap on “OK.” The Android Gallery app does not scan for media files in the folders that have a file named “.nomedia.” The file just tells the app that there are no media files here in this folder to be included in the gallery. 6. You should be able to see the file along with your media files. Deleting or renaming the file should make all the media in the folder available to the Gallery app. Let it just sit there to keep your files from the Android Gallery. Conclusion Not every media file on your Android device needs to be put in the gallery. The method above helps you keep your chosen files from the Gallery app on your device.

Hope this article is useful

Do your computer overheats? What to do

Computer cooling is very important for hassle-free computing. A large number of computer problems are caused due to excessive heating of the computer system. In fact, if there is not proper cooling, the processor may melt itself down in a matter of seconds So you must give utmost care to PC cooling. There are various computer cooling methods.

You can also talk to a computer services company for getting assistance in this regard. So today we will discuss some tips to keep your PC and Laptop Cool and prevent it from being Over heated

Tips to Keep your PC Cool

1. Hibernate PCs when they aren’t in use:
Here’s a really simple thing you can do to help control heat: Configure the PCs to go into hibernation mode during periods of inactivity. Not only does this help to save electricity, but it also gives the PC a chance to cool down.

2.Clean Your Computer:
I have seen more heat-related problems caused by dust than by anything else. If dust clogs the air intake on a PC, air does not move properly through the case and the PC can overheat. Make sure that the you clean dusts as a part of its regular cleaning regiment.

3.More Fans:
Sometimes, power users require PCs that generate a bit more heat than the average desktop. For instance, a PC containing several hard drives might run hot. If you have PCs like this in your office or home , see whether the cases can accommodate any extra fans.
Case manufacturers will often leave room for the installation of additional fans. I have also seen instances of PCs equipped with fans that are smaller than the case can accommodate. Computer fans can be surprisingly cheap.

4. Cut the Clutter:
If your desk is messy and flooded with Papers , cloths and other unwanted stuffs then clean that up. Cut the Clutter from your Desk and clear all the other unwanted stuffs away from your Computer’s Exhaust Port.

5. Keep the Surrounding Cool:
Try and keep your PC in a room where its much cooler then other places. A AC room will be preferred more.
Or Else Try and place your CPU besides a open window to allow the air Circulation.

6. Don’t Remove the Case:
You must not Remove the Case of your CPU if you think it will keep things cool. No you are wrong…Once should not remove the Case unless you have a Fan over the open Case.

7. Check the BIOS temperature settings
Take a look at the temperature-related BIOS settings. Most newer PCs have BIOS settings that can be configured to shut down the PC if it reaches a certain temperature. Some PCs also have BIOS settings that will generate an alert if the CPU fan or the case fan fails.
